Cherished by Belinda Boring (Kindle Edition) – Read December 19, 2011

Cost: N/A (Edit: This book has been combined with another book and no longer exists on it’s own)

Official Description: (This is the second book in the Mystic Wolves series) – For a moment, Darcy almost convinced herself the last twelve hours didn’t happen. As image after image hits her, the sinking realization of all she’s lost overwhelms her and all she can think of is to run. Run far away where her shame can’t find her, and most of all, where she’ll never have to see the look of blame in Mason’s eyes. Feeling like a complete failure, she scrambles to make plans. But the voice of her mate-to-be penetrates her frantic thoughts, asking for the chance to show her just how much she is loved. It hurts Mason deeply to hear Darcy’s thoughts, knowing the events of the previous night have completely rattled her. Grieving over the death of his beloved sister Jasmine, Mason knows he has to act fast. Darcy is all he’s ever wanted and the idea of life without her is unacceptable. Armed with his unswerving love and wolfish charm, he sets out to remind her just how valuable she is and why there is no one else for him but her. Can Darcy let go of the shame of failure consuming her or will Mason convince her that after all is said and done, she truly is… cherished?

My Take: This was a novella, and though it was longer than the first novella, it was still short. Coming into Cherished we are dealing with Darcy’s emotional trauma over the loss of her pack mate, and her future mate’s sister. She blames herself and thinks that Mason blames her to, and the majority of this novella is based around that. Getting over the trauma of murder and trying to get past the guilt. We also see the connection that Mason and Darcy have and it’s all sweet. But really for me it could have been even shorter. We ran in circles and were very repetitive and though the story kind of moves forward it felt like it went in circles. The writing was fine and the characters are interesting, I would like to see where this could go if there was a longer project and we had a lengthier time line with more events.
