Official Description: (This is book #0.5 of the Amber Druid series)
He’s always been her temptation…will she finally give in?
Liana Morgan is the consummate business woman, buttoned-up, strait-laced, and very in tune with every aspect of her restaurants. She is closed off from emotional entanglements of any kind, not letting a single distraction slip under her skin.
Now she’s in New Orleans, tying up the last few loose ends with a new restaurant, when her one temptation strolls, oh-so-casually, back into her life. Traven Campbell is an AMBER DRUID like her, and the one man she’s never been able to completely block from her mind. Every molecule of her ‘good girl’ persona wants him, and always has, but it’s not enough for her…or is it?
Traven Campbell is a player, and proud of it. He’s easy-going, laid-back, and an expert bachelor. But even womanizers have jobs. His latest is shadowing a target for the New Orleans P.D. But while on the watch, he’s shocked to see Liana, the one woman he’s never managed to coerce into bed, WITH his target.
Determined to find answers, Traven confronts Liana, and soon business and pleasure are mixing with the sultry heat of New Orleans. Will Liana finally give in? Will Traven be able to tempt her beyond her invisible moral line? Or will Traven’s target call the final shot?
Oh where do I start? This book has been on the top of the Amazon Kindle charts for a while, it’s inexpensive, it’s short and it has an interesting cover. This book has lots of great reviews and a few not so great. I am going to start out with my least favorite things in this prequel novella. I thought it was awkward, and that is kind of the downfall of many short stories, you have these two characters that have known each other for 50 years, they’ve both secretly longed for one another, they have this history that we the reader aren’t apart of and have no real connection with. So when they start going at it, you just feel like they picked someone off the street and now they are having awkward sex in public places. I’m not big fan of straight up sexy times with no story to back it up, and yes there is a minutia of a story, but the main part is Traven and Liana coming together…as a couple. The rest is kind of barely there, hard to believe and again, I feel unattached for the danger that our two main characters face.
Now on to positive I think the idea of the Druids is really cool, I imagine the full length novel, if focusing more on the story, will be pretty awesome because there is so much lore that can be built upon with these characters. The author has really set that up as a series that could potential go really far and do really well, because each Druid has a special power, seemingly unique to them, and they’re Amber Druids, so what other kind are there? I’d love to read a novel more about the PI work and the individual characters, than just straight up sex, but to each his own.
