Official Description: This is book #1 of the Begin With Goodbye series

BEGIN WITH GOODBYE Vol. 1 is the first installment in a serial romance series. It is approximately 5000 words (about 18 pages.)

When Samantha left Harborhaven for her freshmen year in college, she barely looked in her rearview mirror. Now it’s three years later and she’s back for her sister’s funeral.

But only Samantha knows the truth: for all intents, her sister died three years ago on the night of her senior prom. Coming home means coming face to face with the man she holds responsible–her sister’s husband and Samantha’s former lover, Julian Ashburn.

My Take:

So this book is so short you can read it in 5 to 10 minutes, the story itself is about 18 pages, that’s it, but it’s part of a series where all the other books are also…18 pages. At least so far. The story is alright, the main character Samantha comes home for her sisters funeral, her sister married her, Samantha’s, ex who she still pines after, and they have a daughter together. So, apparently the sisters widower still is into Samantha and comes onto her…right after the funeral. Which is just terrible, to me. It is supposed to seem all romantic, that he’s held a torch all the years they’ve been a part. I would have slapped the snot out of the guy and moved on with life, but hey whatever. I don’t like the short, short story concept, it seems like the authors just want to get what they’ve written out there but haven’t really completed the thought. I don’t think the book is terrible, I’ll read the next one, but it’s just kind of fizzles when there are not enough pages to really invest in the story. Hey, it’s free on Amazon, so I guess that’s a plus!
