Internet phenomenon The Guild comes to comics, courtesy of series creator, writer, and star Felicia Day (Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog)! Chronicling the hilarious on- and offline lives of a group of Internet role-playing gamers, the Knights of Good, The Guild has become a cult hit, and is the winner of numerous awards from SXSW, YouTube, Yahoo, and the Streamys. Now, Day brings the wit and heart of the show to this graphic-novel prequel. In this origin tale of the Knights of Good, we learn about Cyd’s life before joining the guild, how she became Codex, her awful breakup with boyfriend Trevor, and how she began to meet the other players who would eventually become her teammates.
I have been waiting to read this comic for 4 years. I just never got around to it, but I loved watching the guild series. It was hilarious! Anyway, this comic is about how the Knights of Good came to be. How Cyd got into her gaming habit, how she came up with Codex and her life of crime. There are lots of great foreshadowing moments that Guild fans will get all nerdy about. In fact reading this makes me want to go binge watch The Guild again. What else can be said, this graphic novel is awesome! The art is great as well. There are some extras with different artist, but I prefered the main artist. The book’s story has all the witticisms one comes to expect with Ms. Days work. Recommended for those who love The Guild.
